need to bring my reading speed back to waht it was before o levels.
I CAN DO IT
i want to finish all the books COVER TO COVER by tonight.
not going to happen unless i speed read (and not take in the little details that display the characters' character)
not going to happen
but a girl can dream.
oh yeah.
the first book i read KAIMIRA, the sky billage, book one
is AWESOME
not much to be said for character development
and you have to admit that character portrayal is flat and inconsistent.
BUT the idea is GREAT.
and the way the characters are portrayed steals the reader's heart.
their troubles, struggles and nature.
PLUSPLUS THE CONCEPT.
balancing the human side(fear, guilt) the beast (anger, rage) and the mek, or mechanical (logic, rationality) to control/communicate whatever.
and the description of the first ever spot.
ADORABLE(:
firebird was as good as ever(:
lackey really knows how to twist heartstrings.
and powers
ursula le guin is a superbly consistent writer
intricate, delicate, but packing a punch.
you can tell that all 3 authors have their little stories behind each and ever character.
i believe that each author holds an image of the character in their minds along with their promonent characteristics and defining moments.
yet what seperates le guin from the other 2 is her simple, yet clear language AND her ability to communicate those little sub-stories without overwhelming the reader(lackey) or consciously withholding them (as monk and nigel ashland do) to keep to the subject yet leaving the characters rather flat.
it's a gift that pratchett shares.
for impact that leaves the reader stunned at the end, le guin takes all
but for rich meaning, space for analysis and pure balance between the serious and the comic, pratchett is the master.
and author compared to either will have a tough time living up to their reputations and works.
oh and i forgot to mention the art work in kaimara.
SUPERB.
